The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission for the second term of five years.
Recall that Professor Mahmoud Yakubu on November 9, 2020 handed over to Air Vice-Marshal Ahmed Muazu (retd) to be the acting chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the expiration of 5-year tenure.
President Muhammadu Buhari, however, wrote the Senate, requesting the screening and confirmation of Yakubu as INEC for a second and final term in office.
