Breaking: Supreme Court issues a Warrant of Release for Orji Kalu’s co-convict

The supreme court has issued a warrant of release for Ude Jones Udeogu, a former director of finance and account at the Abia government house who was convicted alongside former Abia governor, Orji Uzor Kalu.

TheCable reports that the warrant was issued on Tuesday for Udeogu to be released from Kuje prison, in the federal capital territory (FCT).

Orji Uzor Kalu remains in prison as no warrant of release was issued for him.

Kanu whose had hoped to be set free following the May 8 judgment of the apex court which ordered his retrial didn’t get a warrant of release because he did not file any application for such.

The judgement only covers the Appellant, Ude Jones Udeogu, who went to Supreme court to challenge the propriety of a Court of Appeal Judge, Justice Mohammed Idris to try him.

Kalu may have to approach the Court of Appeal, where he has a pending matter, to ask for his release following the dismissal of the judgement of the Federal High Court, Lagos by the Supreme Court.
