Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state has told #EndSARS protesters in the state that the notorious former OC SARS in Awkuzu, James Nwafor will be relieved of his political appointment and recommended for immediate prosecution.
Residents of the state and Nigerians at large have, for a long time, called for the immediate investigation and prosecution of James Nwafor over multiple allegations of extra-judicial killing of young men in the state.
Nwafor James retired from the police and since bagged a political appointment as an aide to state governor.
While addressing the #ENDSARS protesters at the Government House, Awka, on Thursday, Governor Obiano promised that effective tomorrow, all illegal detainees in various SARS formations in the state will be released, while officers found wanting will be prosecuted.
He addressed other issues raised by the protesters while he appealed to them to open up the expressway which has been blocked.
Some celebrities who were seen at the protest include Zubby Michael, Slow Dogg, Bob Manuel Udokwu, among others.
