The former priest of the Catholic Church, Rev. Patrick Henry Edet who got married in 2018, dedicated his child today in church two years after he openly declared that he was quitting priesthood.
Edet and his wife Inyene, dedicated their daughter christened Mbiet -Yaweh at Grace Family aka Commonwealth of Champions, IBB Avenue in Uyo. The dedication ceremony was attended by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel.
While announcing his resignation from priesthood on the 31st of July, 2017, Rev. Edet had said “the resignation marked the beginning of ‘freedom’ for his spirit and soul.
Edet said after 11 long years, he strongly felt the need to leave because he was feeling boxed in and it was affecting his personal relationship with God.
In his words:
“From today henceforth, I cease to be a Catholic Priest, in my spirit and in my soul. I forgive those who will criticize me, I live for God. I seek freedom for my soul. As I leave, I leave smiling I am so happy that I am free.”
