Female Professor, Maimuna Waziri beat 47 others to emerge VC at Fed. Versity in Yobe, check out her credentials

Professor Maimuna Waziri has emerged the new Vice-Chancellor of Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State.

The Governing Council of the institution approved Prof Waziri’s appointment during the fifth Council meeting of the University held on Saturday.

Waziri, a Professor of Chemistry, will succeed incumbent Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andrew Haruna whose tenure will end on February 10.

According to information made available to journalists, 48 Professors applied for the position, out of which 25 were shortlisted for interaction.

Three candidates made it to the final stage before the Council settled on Professor Waziri.

While congratulating the New Vice-Chancellor, the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Mallam Ibrahim Akuyam called on her to ensure she carries all the staff of the institution along.

Maimuna Waziri is analytical chemistry professor from Yobe state.
She is 55 years old and a former Dean of the Faculty of Science.
She was also Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin) and has at least 32 research works to her credit.
