Ganduje gives Ex-Gov. Kwankwaso’s father top position in Karaye Emirate

The administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has approved the appointment of Musa Saleh-Kwankwaso, father of the former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as a kingmaker of the Karaye Emirate Council.

The appointment was announced in a statement on Thursday, November 26, by Haruna Gunduwawa, the spokesperson for the Karaye Emirate Council, Premium Times reported.

Gunduwawa said Saleh-Kwankwaso who held the traditional title of ‘Makaman Karaye’, will be officially turbaned as a kingmaker among the other four appointees on Friday, November 27.

The Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje had on December 5, 2019, signed into law a bill that created Karaye Emirate and three other Emirates Councils.

The law establishing the new emirates also made provisions for first-class emirs in Gaya, Rano, Karaye and Bichi, with the state now having five emirates, including the Kano Emirate.

The creation of the new emirates had culminated in the dethronement of the former emir, Muhammadu Sanusi, who was accused of not backing the creation of the emirates.

The immediate past governor of the state, Kwankwaso, was also opposed to the creation of the four new emirates.
