How President Macron refused Russian protocols during meeting with President Putin in Moscow

The French president reportedly refused to take a Russian Covid-19 test when he arrived to meet with President Putin in Moscow this week, Reuters reports.

“We knew very well that meant no handshake and that long table. But we could not accept that they get their hands on the president’s DNA,” one of the sources said, apparently referring to French security concerns should their leader be tested by Russian doctors.

Macron was allegedly given two choices by Moscow, either accept a PCR test conducted by Russian authorities or refuse and abide by more stringent social distancing – looks like he chose the latter.
