Ihedioha celebrates Okorocha’s Legacies in ICT Development

His Excellency Rt.Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has joined some ICT enthusiasts in the State in the formal opening of one of Southeast’s largest ICT hubs, the Westgate ICT Hub, Owerri. Ihedioha who was full of smiles and admiration for the very commendable business investment obviously appreciates the huge job and business potentials made possible through the siting of this Hub in Imo State.

Over the last eight years, the Rescue Mission administration under His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha has made deliberate efforts to make Imo the hub of economic opportunities, by putting in place the right business environment for investors to thrive and be guaranteed of good returns on their investments.

The Westgate ICT Hub, Owerri is one of over a thousand new private sector investments drawn to Imo State over the last eight years as a result of the investor friendly policies and programs of the Rescue Mission administration. Some of the policies put in place by the Owelle Rochas Okorocha administration to encourage private sector growth are; allocation of free lands to industrialists, tax waiver to Small and Medium Scale business owners, enhancement of safety and security in the State, massive infrastructural development across the State and reducing corruption in the civil service.

Governor Okorocha had over the past eight years invested in ICT development, thereby, making Imo State, the destination of choice for ICT entrepreneurs. Some of the Rescue Mission policies targeted at developing ICT in Imo State include; the building and equipping of 27 ICT centers – one for each of the 27 LGAs in the State – insistence on ICT education for Secondary School students in the State, purchasing thousands of free laptops for students and civil servants in the State and introducing ICT knowledge as requisite for employment into the Imo State Civil Service. As a consequence of these policies, Imo State ranks top after Lagos and Abuja in ICT development in Nigeria.

I commend Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha for finding time to visit one of the numerous developmental legacies of Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha and urge him to find time to visit and appreciate more of such projects in the State, especially, the government funded ICT center in Owerri and the 27 ICT centers in all the LGAs in the State.

IMO MUST MOVE FORWARD!
