ISWAP militants attack barracks in Borno, lose 10 members during raid

Army troops of Operation Hadin Kai have foiled the attack raiders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on a military barracks in Borno State.

Zagazola Makama, a publication focused on the Lake Chad region, told that the terrorists attacked Kunnari, a village near Buratai town, at about 3 AM on Monday, March 27. The terrorists then moved to attack the military barracks but were strongly resisted by the soldiers there, who killed 8 of the insurgents.

A military source told the publication:
“The ISWAP fighters came in trucks and motorcycles, shooting sporadically but a swift response from the troops put them in disarray.

“The gallant troops chased the terrorists in their escape route and intercepted two other terrorists who were trying to fix their motorcycle after it broke down and gun them down.”

A soldier, though, reportedly sustained injuries during the combat.
