Just in: Tiger Woods to receive presidential honour from Trump on Monday

Tiger Woods is to receive the US Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Donald Trump on Monday, the White House announced on Thursday.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders announced the event, at which Woods will receive the Presidential Honour. Trump will bestow the award, the nation’s highest civilian honour, on the golfing great in the White House Rose Garden.

Woods won the Masters last month for his 15th major championship. The day after the victory, Trump tweeted that he had spoken with Woods and announced he would be honoring him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
