Kidnap of two in Ondo sparks heavy protest

Youths of Uso Community in Owo L.G.A, Ondo State, have filled the streets to display their dissatisfaction over the kidnap of two local residents by bandits, who reportedly captured the two locals along the Akure-Owo Expressway and took them into the forest.

According to a source, that three persons were initially kidnapped but one managed to escape.

The incident reportedly sparked a riot amongst the youths, who insisted on blocking the expressway, causing hours of heavy traffic.

After many hours of intervening, the police successfully caused the youths to clear the expressway, dispersing them.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Ondo Police Command, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, who later confirmed the abduction incidence, said operatives of the Police Command in Ondo have been deployed to bring back the victims safely.

She said, “Our men of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad have been on the trail of the bandits to ensure the victims were rescued.”
