Nigerian Youths honour top military chiefs for success in combating Insecurity

Abuja, the Nigeria’s capital hosted the 2022 National summit of Coalition of Eminent Civil society organizations in Nigeria (CECSON) today (Wednesday), April 20.

The event which was graced by leadership of various civil society organizations in Nigeria ranging from advocacy groups, Youth and student groups, ethnic organizations, trade unions and artisans group had a total of 413 accredited delegates present at the Summit.

The high point of the event was when 70% of the delegates present at the main Hall of Byuan resort Abuja; venue of the summit voted that four Nigerians who have served the country meritoriously be honoured as ICON OF DILIGENT SERVICE.

Those nominated for honours are:
1. The Chief of Defence Staff (General Lucky E.O Irabor)
2. The Director General of National Intelligence Agency (Mr. Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar)
3. The Chief of Defence Intelligence (Major General Samuel A. Adebayo)
4. The Head of Nigeria’s Interpol (AIG Garba Umar)

The President, Forum of Ethnic Nationalities; Hon. Prince Mohammad Sani Hassan who moved the motion that the four nominees be honoured and decorated as ICONs OF DILIGENT SERVICE in his submission noted that the current successes recorded in the war against terrorism, insurgency and other social vices in Nigeria is made possible through a well coordinated, broadened aggressive intelligence gathering by the Defence Intelligence Agency and National Intelligence Agency against all forms of perceived sabotage.

Hassan noted that the two intelligence agencies have maintained diligence in service delivery and have remained the pivot upon with other security departments and units of the nation’s security architecture revolves. “Because the intelligent agencies operate in secrecy, not many Nigerians knows about their challenges and sacrifices as they are the most ideologically and mentally attacked” he maintained.

The Leader, Association of Peace and Conflict resolution Practitioners; Mr. Adeyelu Oluwadamilare Samuel confessed that the chief of Defence staff and Head of Interpol have shown leadership and diligence in service delivery without counting costs of any return.

Adeyelu said without prompt intelligence gathering, most successes made by security agencies and formations wouldn’t have been possible. He warned that many enemies of the nation will always try to cause division and rancor within the system but due to prompt intelligence, they always failed.

“Remember that a Federal High Court presided over by Justice Okon Abang dismissed a suit challenging the appointment of the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, that suit was the handiwork of desperators and enemies of peace in Nigeria. The presidency must take note”, Adeyelu opined

Seconding the motion, the National President of the Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria (ELFON), Amb. Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel professed in confession that the four nominees are well deserving of the honours that will be conferred on them in the coming days by Nigerians of goodwill. He advised those nominated to continue in their business of ensuring that Nigeria remains united as one indivisible Nation against all odds.
