NSCDC nabs abusive aunt and son for domestic abuse of minor

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State has arrested a woman and her son for allegedly abusing physically a 12-year-old girl over missing N2,000.

The two suspects, Adamo Yunusa, aunt to the young girl; and her son, Saheed Yunusa, were arrested at their residence in Ile Oniponmo, Ayelabowo in Oko-Olowo area of the city of Ilorin. 

It was gathered that the suspects severely wounded the minor while torturing her. The minor was identified as Sukura Suleiman.

Kwara NSCDC spokesperson, Olasunkanmi Ayeni, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, March 14. 

He said the report was brought to the command headquarters by a concerned citizen who got the hint of the severe injuries inflicted on the girl by her aunt.

The NSCDC PRO also said that the suspects claimed the victim was beaten because she stole the sum of N2,000.

He added that the suspects would be prosecuted at the end of the investigations.

Speaking on the incident, Muhammed Ibrahim, the NSCDC commandant in the state, said the suspects would face court charges after investigations are concluded.

Ibrahim asked residents to be vigilant and report suspected criminal activities to the command. He added that the command would respond immediately to cases of domestic abuse and security issues across the state.
