Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has gotten the deities of Ile Ife involved in the fight against coronavirus pandemic, to help cleanse the country from the wide spread of the virus.
The Ooni, in a public announcement signed by Chief Oyalami Awoyode, charged residents of Ile-Ife to remain indoors throughout Thursday as masqueraders are going to be performing traditional rites to cleanse Nigeria from the pandemic.
He said the Oro deities would be traveling the whole Ife town to perform spiritual rites against spread of the virus.
He warned residents to steer clear the streets because the deities must to not be seen by any person .
He also explained that the rites would help in returning peace to the land and therefore the country.
A resident of the Ile-Ife, Issac Abraham, confirmed that the Oro ritual has commenced within the town and restriction of movement commenced by 8 am and ends at 6 pm.
