There was panic this morning when passengers at the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri had to run for their lives due to an electrical surge that led to a fire incident at the airport.
According to eye witness reports, Lagos based DJ Barbie was one of those sitting close to the central AC where the fire broke out.
Luckily, the fire did not escalate as it was quickly put off by security men around. Afterwards, passengers had to battle with the smoke that filled the departure section where it happened.
‘Alot of people choked from smoke at the airport while It affected bookings and other flight procedures as the systems shutdown and electricity went off’ a witness told LIB.
