The Police Divisional Headquarters in Mbieri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State is currently under attack by yet to be identified gunmen.
According to reports gathered so far, suspects that were held in custody have all been set free by the attackers who stormed the station on Wednesday night. Some police officers fighting to repel the attack have sustained injuries and residents of the area are in apprehension following multiple gunshots emanating from the station.
As we await more details from the incident, it is sad to note that the attack is coming about 48 hours after the attack on the State Police command headquarters and the Owerri Correctional Centre which took place in the early hours of Monday. The ugly incident also occurred about 24 hours after Divisional Police Headquarters in Ehime Mbano LGA was set ablaze.
