Residents Scoop Diesel From A Fallen Tanker In Imo (Photos)

Passers-by were shocked to see some residents of Isiala Mbano LGA in Imo state scooping diesel from the road after a tanker carrying the product fell.

The tanker had reportedly fallen at Umuelemia while trying to enter Fred Iyke filling station.

This is not the first time people will troop out in large number to scoop products from a fallen tanker. However, the recent havoc caused by a fallen tanker at Upper Iweka in Onitsha should have been enough lesson for these people who are spotted scooping this spilled diesel.

Although some have blamed the shocking behaviour on the poverty. We hope that this supposed poverty stop messing a further with their sense of safety because they are all eventually endangering the entire community.

Meanwhile, we hope that the relevant authorities have been mobilised to the scene of this incident to prevent a possible fire explosion from taking place there.

Meanwhile, following the incessant collapse of trucks carrying petroleum products in Anambra State in recent times, the state government has restricted the movement of tankers with petroleum products in all parts of the state.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Don Adinuba, the state government said such vehicles can only be allowed to move within the state from 8 p.m. to 5a.m.

The statement reads “Following the incessant collapse of trucks carrying petroleum products in Anambra State in recent times, including one which happened in Onitsha earlier today ( Thursday), the Anambra State Government has decided to restrict the time which vehicles laden with petroleum products can move in the state.”
