See the tweet that changed Wizkid’s Career for ever

Every successful person who began his/her journey from ‘grass’ have a story to tell about their rise to prominence and Nigeria’s popular singer, Wizkid is no different.

Almost everyone knows that Banky W was instrumental in the success of the Starboy. However, a tweet from Wizkid 10 years ago captured the period he was shooting his shot for Banky W to pay him attention.

As has been established, ‘the internet never forgets’. In the 10-year-old tweet, Wizkid is seen asking for help from BankyW who was the CEO of the Record Label, EME.

Wizkid wrote “@BankyW hey Mr Banky..my name is Wizkid nd I’m up nd coming in d music industry nd I need ur help mehn..”

Wizkid who is one of Nigeria’s biggest music stars of the moment signed a record deal with Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E). He rose to prominence after releasing “Holla at Your Boy”, the lead single from his debut studio album Superstar (2011). “Tease Me/Bad Guys”, “Don’t Dull”, “Love My Baby”, “Pakurumo” and “Oluwa Lo Ni” were also released as singles from the Superstar album.

In February 2014, Wizkid became the first ever Nigerian musician to have over 1 million followers on Twitter. Ayo, his self-titled second studio album, was released in September 2014. It was supported by six singles: “Jaiye Jaiye”, “On Top Your Matter”, “One Question”, “Joy”, “Bombay” and “Show You the Money”. Wizkid left E.M.E after his contract expired in 2014.
