Sunday Igboho finally speaks about the burning of his house

In reaction to the burning of his house, Sunday Igboho has said he will not blame anyone right now until an investigation has been concluded.

Igboho’s old house located in Soka, Ibadan was gutted by fire in the early hours of Tuesday.

While speaking to Peoples Gazette, Igboho said he would allow authorities to carry out their investigation and won’t be in a hurry to blame any individual or group for the suspected arson. He also expressed joy that no live was lost in the incident.

He said: “I cannot blame anyone right now for the attack, not even Fulani people,” he said by telephone hours after the attack.

“We have to thank God that nobody was killed, it is more important.”

He said he moved out of the property about a year ago to a new property also in Soka.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, says hoodlums who rode in a hummer bus and a Micra stormed the apartment, fired sporadic gunshots before setting the house ablaze. The statement adds that the incident is now being investigated.

”At about 0620 hrs of today 26/01/2021, report was received at Santo Police Station that some unidentified hoodlums came to Sunday Igboho’s house at SOKA area of Ibadan in a Hummer bus and Micra firing sporadically, and set the house ablaze.

“The mini sitting room got burnt in the process while amount of other properties is yet to be estimated. Immediately the DPO Sanyo got wind of the incident, he contacted Fire service while he also went to the scene for on the spot assessement. The fire was eventually put out.

“Investigation has commenced into the incident while the Police is on the trail of the hoodlums.” the statement reads.

Sunday Igboho became a trending name in Nigeria after he gave a quit notice to Fulani herdsmen in Igangan, Ibarapa.

The notice followed a series of kidnapping and killing linked to the herdsmen.

Governor Seyi Makinde ordered his arrest. A spokesman of President Buhari said the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has also ordered his arrest.

But the arrest was never effected even after he met with the new police commissioner in Oyo State, Ngozi Onadeko on Sunday.
