Suspects arrested for fatally shooting online personality Boopac Shakur

An online celebrity, Boopac Shakur, who is known for uncovering alleged sexual predators, was shot and killed after confronting two teenagers.

This happened on Friday night, September 29, at a restaurant in Pontiac where Lee confronted the two teenagers, a 17 and 18-year-old.

The Oakland County sheriff’s office said in the news release that, the 40-year-old Robert Wayne Lee, usually poses as a 15-year-old girl online in order to lure out and expose suspected childlovers.

Videos of his exploits were published to his followers on Facebook and Instagram.

According to the police, Lee confronted one of the teenagers of being a pedophile and punched him.

The teen who was punched pulled out a knife, and the other one who is probably the 17-year-old, shot Lee repeatedly with a pistol.

Lee was later sent to the hospital but due to the injuries, he died.

The police said that the suspects whose names were yet to be disclosed, were arrested on the afternoon of 30th September after they had fled.

According to the Police in the release, although Lee’s “one-man crusade has led to the arrest and criminal charges being filed against several men, he has also mistakenly identified someone as a sexual predator who was not.”

He also said that detectives are expected to turn the case over to prosecutors for charges.

“While we certainly understand his desire to hold child predators accountable, many times well-intentioned individuals who engaged in this don’t know the standard of evidence required for convictions and often underestimate the potential for violence confronting a suspected predator,” Sheriff Michael Bouchard stated.
