President Donald Trump seems to have tactically accepted that he would not be the president of the United States of America next year.
This followed days of denial over election results from reputable media outlets which projected former vice president Joe Biden of the Democratic Party as the winner of the November 3 presidential election in the country.
While speaking for the first time in a week as coronavirus cases in the US hits record number, he said:
“I will not — this administration will not be doing a lockdown. Hopefully whatever happens in the future — who knows which administration it will be — I guess time will tell, but I can tell you this administration will not go to a lockdown.”
According to CNN, this is a fleeting shift in tone suggesting that the reality of projected President-elect Joe Biden’s substantial win is seeping into Trump’s psyche even as he and his advisers publicly deny.
In a related development, Donald Trump’s hope of overturning the victory of Joe Biden has suffered a huge setback as Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, a law firm representing the embattled president and his campaign in Pennsylvania, withdrew its legal service.
Trump has failed to concede defeat to his Democratic challenger after the 77-yer-old former vice president crossed the 270- threshold required for the presidency during the Tuesday, November 3 election in the US.
The president’s legal team which Porter Wright Morris & Arthur was part of had filed a lawsuit challenging Biden’s victory in some states where the projected president-elect won.
