Nigeria’s former Military Head of State, Major-General Yakubu Gowon is not dead.
Gowon denied the rumour of his death, saying “I am still around and well. I am not in a hurry.”
His message was conveyed by Adeyeye E. Ajayi, the personal aide to General Gowon.
Gowon led Nigeria during the Nigerian-Biafran War of 1967.
In the video below, Yakubu Gowon is demanding the surrender of Biafra in 1968.
The war didn’t end until Biafra eventually surrendered in 1970.
