The post draws comparisons with Paul Pogba, whose career took a major hit after testing positive for a banned substance in 2023. Though Pogba’s suspension was later reduced, it cost him his Juventus contract, and the Frenchman has struggled to return to the pitch ever since.
The point? Anti-doping agencies operate on “strict liability” — meaning a footballer is fully responsible for whatever enters their system, whether it was taken knowingly, unknowingly, or through sabotage. A spiked meal could lead to a ban, and a promising career could vanish overnight.
