A petroleum tanker loaded with 33,000 litres Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) was gutted by fire this morning at the entrance of Gowon Estate, Ipaja Road, Alimosho, Lagos.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 6.30 am. Motorists were advised to make use of alternative routes as traffic gridlock was building up.
Men of the Lagos State Fire Service and the State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA who raced to scene have been able to put out the fire.
Residents in the area who couldn’t substantiate the cause of the fire incident, only narrated how they saw the tanker burning, with petrol spill which spread around causing destruction to property.
The Monday morning fire incident resulted in the destruction of property at Abesan Estate, along Ipaja Ayobo road.
A Twitter user, @Abiola_Usman lamenting the situation, said his father’s car got burnt as a result of the fire incident.
