#DefendLagos: Aisha Yesufu reacts to threat on Igbo businesses in Lagos

As youths in Lagos State prepare for the #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest scheduled to take place on February 13, a counter-protest known as #DefendLagos has also been fixed on the same day and venue.

The #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest was initiated by #EndSARS protesters who are resisting the reopening of the toll gate as directed by the Lagos State Judicial Panel investigating the October 20, 2020 shooting.

As a resistance to the protest, some other youths are planning to counter the protest with #DefendLagos rally on that day. Unfortunately, many of the comments on and offline are alleging that IPOB and Biafrans are the ones behind the #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest, hence there has been threats for the attacks of businesses owned by Igbos.

Reacting to the threats, Activist Aisha Yesufu called out those making the threats, adding that the idea that everyone must take the law into their hands will backfire on us all.

She wrote:

You want to go & destroy other people’s business because you have beef with IPOB. What have the people at computer Village got to do with your perceived notion that IPOB is after Lagos? Are they IPOB? Even if they are, did they do you anything? Even if they did, ARE YOU THE LAW?

You see this nonsense where everyone thinks they can take the law into their hands will backfire on us all.
