Breaking: Mr Macaroni and 39 other protesters granted bail

Popular comedian Debo Adebayo aka Mr Macaroni and 39 other protesters who were arrested by police on Saturday morning for protesting at the Lekki Toll Gate have been granted bail.

The protest, tagged #OccupyLekkiTollgate, scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, was against the reopening of the tollgate, as #EndSARS protesters insisted that the toll gate cannot reopen until victims of October 20, 2020 incident get justice.

Sharing an update on Twitter this evening, Omoyele Sowore, convener of RevolutionNow Movement stated that the arrested protesters have been granted bail.

It was gathered that the protesters were charged for:
1. Breaking the 50 person COVID gathering limits
2. Breaking order not to protest (which by the way, is a constitutional right)

Earlier, a video that surfaced online shows the protesters in a dehumanizing condition. They were tied up and looking tortured.

  1. Rubbish Nigerian police. Imagine charging them for violeting Covid-19 protocols on gethering not morethan 50 people, whereas police packed them like caw in small vehicle van. Which way Nigeria

  2. If they were charged for violating COVID-19 protocol, what happened to those that gathered for Ondo and Edo election?
