EBSU SUG reacts to suffocation and reported death of students

The Student Union Government (SUG) of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) has reacted to the suffocation and reported death of some students of the university who were made to sit in an overcrowded hall to write a GST exam on Wednesday, Feb 10.

In a statement released by the SUG President, Comr Abanni Samson, the student body apologised to the students for being made to sit for an exam in such an unconducive environment.

The SUG President made it clear that the incident that led to suffocation of students was avoidable and begged the students to remain calm while the student body confirms if there is any death was recorded.

“As leaders and firstly students, the SUG share in the pain of all EBSU students and on this note we assure everyone that never again will EBSU students under our leadership made to go through such horror in the name of writing any exam or undertaking any academic activity including experiences with the consultancy unit of the university”.

“The planning could have been better, to prevent the mayhem that was recorded today. I am personally sorry for all who got hurt in any way,” Comr Samson said.
