Breaking: 27 of the abducted students of College of Forestry freed

Kidnappers of 39 students of the College of Forestry Mechanisation Afaka in Kaduna, have released 27 of them today, out of the 29 in their custody.

Ten of the students kidnapped in March, were earlier released in two batches. It was not clear whether they were given ransom before they freed their captives.

On Tuesday, parents of the children stormed the National Assembly in Abuja demanding their freedom.

The Chairman of the forum of the abducted parents, Malam Abdullahi, confirmed their release to The PUNCH in a telephone interview on Wednesday.

He said, “Yes, they have been released. They are on their way from the forest where they have been kept for the past 50 days.”

There’s no news yet about the remaining two victims that was not released.

On March 11, 2021 bandits invaded the school located in Afaka along the Kaduna International Airport Road and abducted the 39 students. The bandits demanded N500 million as ransom for their release.
