Breaking: Cross River Police Commissioner, Abdulkadir Jimoh is dead

The Cross River State Commissioner of police, Abdulkadir Jimoh died on Friday morning, December 18, 2020 of an undisclosed illness.

Jimoh was reportedly battling with an undisclosed ailment for sometime.

There were reports that he may have contracted the deadly COVID-19 and died of related complications since he reportedly died at the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Isolation Centre at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, (UCTH) Calabar.

Meanwhile an AIT reporter in Cross River told Vanguard that he was rushed to the UCTH this morning where gave up the ghost. “Nobody should tell you he died of COVID-19 but the doctors said he died of pneumonia”.

The Chief Medical Director of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital Prof. Ikpeme A. Ikpeme who also confirmed the unfortunate incident said he was brought into the hospital facility, practically dead on Friday morning.

He did not declare the cause of the death but advised those who have been in close contact with the late CP to be on self-isolation as well as visit the UCTH for a COVID-19 test.

Late CP Jimoh was last seen in the public at the Bye-Election which held on December 5th at the northern Senatorial district of the state. His health challenges deteriorated upon return to Calabar where he was receiving treatment from 

The Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Irene Ugbo, was yet to comment on the sad development as at the time of filing this report.
