Breaking: FG impounds British aircraft for operating commercial flight despite ban

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika has ordered the impoundment of a British aircraft, Flair Aviation for conducting commercial flights into Nigeria despite the ban on all commercial flights.

Flair Aviation had earlier been given approval to conduct humanitarian flights into the country. However, the company took advantage of the permit by carrying out commercial activities with their aircraft, in violation of the rules of their approval.

Hadi Sirika who made the disclosure on his social media page said that the flight crew are being interrogated.

“#COVID-19. Flair Aviation, a UK company, was given approval for humanitarian operations but regrettably we caught them conducting commercial flights.

“This is callous! The craft is impounded, crew being interrogated. There shall be maximum penalty. Wrong time to try our resolve!”.

“It would be recalled that the federal government banned commercial flights operations in and out of the country as part of efforts to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).”
