“Congratulations Museveni on winning re-election after murdering opponents” – UN Watch writes about Ugandan election

UN Watch has congratulated Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni for winning re-election into his sixth tenure.

In the congratulatory message, UN Watch outrightly accused Museveni who has been President of Uganda since 1986, of committing electoral fraud, murdering and silencing his opponents. However, the post has elicited backlash from some Ugandans who are obviously Museveni’s supporters.

During the election, the opposition Bobi Wine and other Ugandans had raised the alarm that there were voter suppression and silencing of the opposition.

While congratulating the president, UN Watch wrote:

“Congratulations to Uganda President Yoweri Museveni on winning re-election after murdering, imprisoning & silencing opponents, shutting down the internet, and committing widespread voter fraud,” UN Watch wrote.
