Grammy Winner, Angelique Kidjo arrives Lagos, meets Asa (memorable video)

African songstress, Angelique Kidjo who beat Burna Boy to win 2020 Grammy award has landed in Lagos and had a memorable meeting with singer Asa.

Angelique Kidjo seem very excited to visit Lagos for the second time after visiting for the first time three decades ago.

The 59-year-old Cotonou-born singer was so free as she exchanged pleasantries with the staff of the Smooth FM studio where she had an interview. Surprisingly, the African songstress could speak the Yoruba language very well.

It was all joy when Nigerian singer, Asa arrived in the studio. The two women jumped on each other with warm hugs that took a while before they separated.

Angelique with smiles also complimenting Asa’s footwear as they relate to each other in the Yoruba language.

It is reported that Angelique Kidjo will be performing live in Lagos during the visit.

“This is my first time in Lagos… My first time playing in Lagos. The last time I was here was in ’73. I left here at 13 years old,” said Angelique.

According to the singer, her father was “too afraid” of her mum to bring her here because he feared if she comes here, she won’t want to go back to resume school.
