The convoy of the Emir of Kaura Namoda, HRH Sanusi Muhammad Asha was attacked on Thursday night by unknown gunmen.
According to Channels TV, the attack happened while the Emir was on his way back from Abuja.
The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo who confirmed the incident didn’t give much information, but he said three of his police escorts were killed as well as five other people.
This comes as security situation in Zamfara state and other North West states continue to deteriorate.
