Just in: Nigeria disease control agency boss quarantined over Covid-19, says Health Minister

The Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu has been quarantine over fears of possible coronavirus infection.

Th Minister for Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire said on Tuesday that Chikwe Ihekweazu was quarantined for 14 days because he just returned from China.

Ehanire stated this when he appeared before the Senate leadership to provide an update on the activities of his ministry to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country.

He said the standard practice was for anyone coming into Nigeria to be quarantined for 14 days before mingling with other members of the public.

In a similar news, the commission for health, Lagos state, Prof. Akin Abayomi on Tuesday confirmed that a Chinese man who arrived Nigeria through Lagos on Monday has been quarantined.

It was gathered that the Chinese national, whose name was giving as Si Wenqhuan was coughing seriously at the airport and had to be taken into isolation immediately.

The commissioner said the Chinese national arrived Lagos aboard Ethiopian Airline and was taken into isolation when he began to manifest symptom of Coronavirus.

Abayomi disclosed that samples have been collected from the Chinese national for test to determine if he is positive to Coronavirus.

He said the government would make known to the public immediately the test result was out, urging residents of the state to embrace the best hygiene possible.
