40-year-old man remanded for allegedly stealing electrical cable worth N3 million

Seun Olakunle, a 40-year-old man, has been remanded in a correctional centre by an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for breaking into a residence and stealing electrical cable valued at ₦3 million.

On Monday, June 23, Chief Magistrate B.A. Sonuga ordered Olakunle’s remand after the defendant pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing. The magistrate subsequently adjourned the case to July 17 for a review of the facts and sentencing.

The Prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, stated that the offence occurred on June 19 at approximately 6a.m. at No. 5 Aliqoda Street in the Oreyo area of Ikorodu. Isaac told the court that Olakunle unlawfully entered the premises and stole the electrical cable belonging to the complainant, Mr. Olawale Abimbola.

The prosecution stated that the offence violated Sections 307(2), 339, and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Olakunle will remain in custody until the court delivers its sentencing next month.
