Ondo police arraigns man for threatening to set his wife and children on fire

A 55-year-old man, identified as Afolabi Samuel, has been dragged before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti by the police for allegedly threatening to set his wife and children on fire.

The incident occurred on June 22, at about 9am, at the Olokuta Matthew area of Ado-Ekiti, where the accused allegedly threatened to kill his wife and children by setting them ablaze with petrol and matches.

Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the prosecutor, told the court that the defendants on the same date, time, and place in the Magisterial District, did conduct himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace.

The prosecutor told the court that the offence is punishable under Section 69, 181(d) Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021.Green job opportunities

Counsel to the defendant, Joy Raphael, urged the court to admit his client to bail, saying he will not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant a bail of N50,000, with one surety in like sum. He consequently adjourned the case till July 22 for hearing.
