A Kenyan man identified as David Njoroge Chege, narrates in tears, how he planed to teach his wife a lesson by marrying a second wife boomeranged on him, leaving him serving a 15-year jail sentence.
He said due to protracted marital issues with his first wife, he decided to marry a younger second wife, to teach the first a lesson, not knowing the plan would backfire on him.
Speaking to Simon Kibe on his Jamba TV channel, Njoroge said that his second wife ended up becoming troublesome as they fought over several issues. She eventually reported him to the police for a crime he insists he did not commit.
“Initially, we fought over some of my goats. She went to report me to the police and the chief, claiming that I had stolen the goats and the bicycle that I owned. I had to convince the chief and police that the assets were mine. I was so mad at her for setting me up,” he said.
The man, who said he even took care of the second’s wife’s four children from a previous relationship, had to relocate from their Free Area home to Njoro by himself, out of fear that she would set him up again.

He reunited with her three months later, after she called to inform him that one of her children was ill; in the few months that followed, the couple quarrelled frequently, with the woman even following him to his house in Njoro.
He recounted how, while in Njoro, she caused a dramatic scene that attracted the neighbours’ attention, yelling that he was a fugitive. Despite the drama, he followed her back to their Free Area home, but their relationship only worsened.
“I returned to Free Area for a while, but it was all trouble.
“One of her kids even went missing, and I was worried she would set me up,” he narrated.
He later decided to go back to his house in Njoro over the unending bickering with his wife but the worse happened.
“I took all my clothes and decided to go back to my house in Njoro. However, that same night, I was arrested. Police officers came to my house at 2am accompanied by the woman. She alleged that I had assaulted one of her children. This was in 2015. Since then, I have always been behind bars,” he narrated.
With tears in his eyes, he said he was initially sentenced to life imprisonment, but his sentence was later reduced to 15 years in prison.
“The 15 years are now over, and I may be out anytime. I only married her because I had issues with my first wife. I decided to marry the second woman so that my first wife would stop being stubborn, but now looking back, I was mistaken,” he added.
