And this article provides an indebt insight of these “STRATEGIC CHALLENGES” which hinders Nigeria’s development as opined by the APGA National Chairman who expatiates these obstacles and explore ways to overcome them.

Decline of National Security and Nationhood

Nigeria faces significant security threats, including terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping. To address this, the government must prioritize strengthening national security institutions and promoting national unity.

Weak Political Order Formation

A robust political system is crucial for Nigeria’s development. This can be achieved through electoral reforms, strengthening democratic institutions, and promoting transparency and accountability.

Decline of State Capacity and the Elite Class

Nigeria’s elite class must prioritize national interests over personal gains. This requires promoting good governance, accountability, and transparency in government institutions.

The Curse of Oil

Nigeria’s oil-dependent economy hinders diversification and sustainable growth. To break this curse, the government should rapidly and not mere lip service, invest in other sectors, such as agriculture and manufacturing. This ultimately will aggravate mass empowerment of the citizens through job creations and economic development.

Corruption
Corruption is a significant obstacle to Nigeria’s development. Addressing this requires strengthening anti-corruption institutions, promoting transparency, and ensuring accountability. Judiciary has lots of role to play and they are required to shun partisanship if actually we need to get it right at this time.

Uncontrolled Population Growth

Nigeria’s rapid population growth puts pressure on resources and infrastructure. To mitigate this, the government should invest in education, healthcare, and family
planning programs as well boas economic drivers to mitigate the over population.

Loss of Global Influence
Nigeria’s global influence is waning due to internal challenges. To regain its position, Nigeria must strengthen its diplomatic relations, promote economic cooperation, and demonstrate leadership in regional and global affairs. However, Nigeria will have to ensure its internal challenges is resolved devoid of any form of international Policy that are anti – people oriented.

To overcome these challenges, Nigeria requires a collective effort from:

  • Political Office Holders: Prioritize national interests, promote good governance, and ensure accountability.
  • Civil Society: Advocate for reforms, promote transparency, and hold leaders accountable.
  • General Populace: Demand good governance, participate in democratic processes, and support development initiatives.

By prioritizing the development of its people and promoting good governance, Nigeria can overcome its current challenges and achieve sustainable progress.
