A heartbreaking video of young Nigerian men arrested by operatives of Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State has been shared online.
In the video which has started going viral, the ‘suspects’ are seen singing and calling on God to save them from their captors, the SARS operatives.
The video has generated backlash and rekindled the call for the federal government to disband the controversial police unit which has been severally accused of human rights abuses and indiscriminate extra judicial killings. Others who have had experience with the Akwuzu SARS also used the opportunity to share their story.
