Breaking! House of Reps deliberate on motion to take over Edo Assembly

The House of Representatives is considering a motion urging its members to take over the functions of the Edo House of Assembly in line with the constitution.

This according to the sponsors of the motion is to enable the proper inauguration of Edo State Assembly.

The motion was brought during plenary on Tuesday by Julius Ihonvbere, Peters Akpatason, and Johnson Oghuma.

There has been continued tussle between the incumbent Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and the immediate past Governor, Adams Oshiomhole who have both anointed different persons to be the Speaker of the Edo House of Assembly.

While the motion was being deliberated on at the floor of the House of Reps, some lawmakers are asking for investigation before the House takes the final decision.
