Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has issued a new directive to officers of IPOB’s security outfit, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Taking to his official Twitter page on Wednesday evening, January 27, Kanu said he got credible information that that Army and Police reinforcement deployed from Owerri have been ordered to withdraw from Orlu.
To that effect, Kanu directed the officers and “men of ESN to stand down, while remaining vigilant to any #Fulani terrorist activity”.
His tweet read:
“Credible intelligence indicates that the Army & Police reinforcement deployed from Owerri have been ordered withdrawn from #Orlu. For this reason, I hereby direct the officers & men of #ESN to stand down, while remaining vigilant to any #Fulani terrorist activity in Biafraland.”
Recall that ESN operatives and Nigerian soldiers clashed in Orlu on Monday, January 25, with casualties recorded from the gun battle.
Governor Hope Uzodinma subsequently imposes curfew in the area to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
