The fate of embattled Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibahim Magu has been reportedly sealed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to reports, reliable sources close to the Presidency disclosed that Magu will not only be sacked next week but will also be likely arrested and prosecuted for corruption and abuse of office.
This, according to source, is based on the indicting Memo which Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), recently sent to President Muhammadu Buhari, in which he.
Malami in the Memo listed ‘22 weighty allegations’ against Magu and strongly recommended his sack.
“A serving Commissioner of Police from Yobe State has already been chosen to take over from Magu,” one source said. He named incumbent Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Mr. Bala Ciroma, as the favoured candidate.
The source also disclosed that the panel probing the allegations against Magu “will submit its report next week, adding that, based on its findings so far, “it is almost certain that Magu will be arrested and prosecuted for sundry acts of corruption and abuse of office.”
