The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged president Muhammadu Buhari to give approval for an independent United Nations Commission of Inquiry to look into what truly happened at Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020.
SERAP made the call while reacting to investigation conducted by CNN on the incident.
In the video CNN releases, the media outlet spoke with over a hundred victims of the incident and they confirmed that soldiers shot and killed many people.
SERAP believes that only an independent panel can get to the facts of what happened so that those responsible for the shooting can be identified and lawfully prosecuted.
