“Confession of Poverty and ignorance not a disgrace to any nation” – Sen Okorocha (Video)

Senator Rochas Okorocha who represents the people of Imo West at the National Assembly has stated that the confession of poverty and ignorance is not a disgrace to any nation but not doing any positive thing about them is the disgrace.

Okorocha who is the immediate past governor of Imo State made the statement at the floor of the Red Chambers during the debate of the 2020 appropriation bill.

According to the Senator, “confession of poverty and ignorance is not a disgrace to any nation. And, nothing done positively to correct it is yet a disgrace.”

During his presentation, Okorocha emphasised that the 2020 Budget should be retailored towards driving the production sector rather than consumption.

He said: “The biggest economic problem we have is how to use the smallest amount of resources to achieve the maximum result. Our budget seems to be tailored on just buying and selling.

“I thing we should begin to look at our budget as wealth set aside for the production of further wealth. Government is business. We should look at those areas that will produces more resources into our land to meet up with future expenditure. I call for prioritization.”
