Coronavirus: Ghana bans all Public gatherings; Churches, Mosques, Schools, Funerals (Video)

Ghanaian President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced the suspension of all public activities in the country as a measure to control the spread of dreaded coronavirus.

Akufo-Addo in a Sunday address to the nation stated that from Monday, March 16, 2020 all public gathering will be prohibited till further notice.

The ban affected all schools, churches, public funerals (except private funerals of not more than 25 participants).

He said, “All universities, Senior High Schools and basic schools ie public and private schools, will be closed Monday, March 16, 2020, till further notice. The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication, has been tasked to roll out distance learning programmes.”

The President added that “BECE and WASSCE candidates will be allowed to attend school to prepare for their examinations but with prescribed social distancing protocols.”

At the moment, Ghana has recorded six confirmed cases of the virus that has infected over 150,000 people and killing over 5000 people globally.
