Cristiano Ronaldo diagnosed with viral infection

Portuguese football legend, Cristiano Ronaldo was on Sunday diagnosed with a viral infection.

Al Nassr, Saudi Pro League side revealed this in a statement, saying the superstar will miss Al Nassr’s Asian Champions League opener this week at Iraq’s Al Shorta.

The statement read: “Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t feeling well today and was diagnosed with a viral infection.

“The team’s doctor confirmed he needs to rest and stay at his place.

“As a result, he will not be travelling with the team to Iraq today. We wish a speedy recovery to our captain.”

The Ronaldo is yet to win a major trophy with Al-Nassr since joining the Saudi club.

He is targeting Asia’s top club crown to add to his long list of achievements when the competition kicks off on Monday.

The Asian Champions League is the first edition of the Elite version, which replaced the AFC Champions League as Asia’s top club tournament.
