Deeper Life High School has responded to allegations that a JSS 1 student was molested in its Akwa Ibom campus.
In a video that went viral recently, a woman named Deborah Okezie interviewed her son who returned home from the Deeper Life boarding school in Oro road, Uyo and he opened up about some of the abuses he was subjected to.
He alleged that he was forced to starve for days, beaten for bedwetting and also sent to a hostel for senior students where he was further abused.
The boy said that he didn’t bath or brush his teeth for a week becasue he was denied that privilege by the seniors of the school. When he tried complaining to a teacher (Mr. Akpan), the teacher ignored and even went ahead to shout at him. He barely ate and went to the bush anytime he wanted to defecate. It took the school authorities time before they could release him to his mother

Deeper Life High School management has now responded. In a statement, the school ‘s management said such is not tolerated in the institution and investigation is ongoing.
They added that once investigation is over, anyone found culpable in the abuse of the child -student or teacher – “will not be spared”.
They added that in the meantime, “the school principal has been suspended summarily”.
