Desperate French dad facing jail for taking down town’s internet to get his kids offline

A French dad desperate to stop his kids from spending too much time on the internet may land himself in jail after he unintentionally cut out internet service from the entire town of Messanges’.

The father bought a signal jammer to prevent his kids from using the web at night without knowing that from midnight until 3am every day cellar and internet service mysteriously went out in the town.

When locals reported outages in the area, service providers began an investigation, which was then escalated to the government’s National Frequency Agency (Agence Nationale des Fréquences or ANFR).

Authorities traced the jamming signal to a house where a homeowner admitted he bought a device online to force his teenage kids offline in the evening.

The father is now being prosecuted and faces up to six months in prison. He also faces up to a 30,000 euro fine as well as a 450 euro fee for the ANFR to investigate.
