Doctors, nurses quarantined, Bayelsa Gov’t House Clinic shutdown over index COVID-19 case

The Bayelsa State’s Government House Clinic otherwise known as “Health Insurance House” has been reportedly shutdown following the confirmation of the index COVID19 cases who had contact with the facility.

According to source, all those who were on duty including the doctors, nurses and visitors have now been informed to go on 14 days isolation.

It was further gathered that, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri and other Health workers are in an emergency meeting and he’s expected to address the people later today following this development.

The two suspected cases reportedly took themselves to the state Specialist Hospital near the Government House, Yenagoa, claiming to have contracted the virus.

The incident was said to have caused pandemonium as workers in the hospital, including doctors and nurses, took to their heels upon hearing the claims of the two persons.

“Even the doctors, everybody ran away. You need to see people running away from the hospital. We saw when the governor came out of Government House, angry.” The source said.
