Ezeokenwa, Ganduje, Political Party Chairman attend INEC consultative

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa joined INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and Commission Members in a Consultative Meeting with Political Party Leaders ahead of the 2024 Edo and Ondo States Governorship Elections. – NDUKA ANYANWU

The meeting of Monday, May 13th was called to update party leaders on the preparations for the Edo and Ondo State Governorship elections. As among the leaders, the National Chairman of APGA Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa are aware, the Edo State Governorship election is holding in the next four months on Saturday 21st September 2024 while the Ondo Governorship election holds in the next six months on Saturday 16th November 2024.

The consultative meeting served as a platform for open dialogue and engagement between INEC and political party leaders. Its purpose was to foster collaboration, transparency, and mutual understanding in order to ensure a fair and credible electoral process.

The meeting covered a range of issues, including electoral guidelines, voter registration, the deployment of electoral personnel, security arrangements, and other key aspects of the electoral
process. The goal was to address any concerns, seek input from political parties, and establish a framework that promotes a level playing field for all participants in the forthcoming governorship elections.

By participating in this consultative meeting, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa demonstrated APGA’s commitment to active engagement in the democratic process and its dedication to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections. The meeting provided an opportunity for APGA to contribute its perspectives, suggestions, and concerns, with the aim of collectively strengthening the electoral process in Edo and Ondo States.

Such consultative meetings between INEC and political party leaders are crucial in
fostering trust, promoting inclusivity, and enhancing the overall integrity of the electoral system. They facilitate constructive dialogue, enable the exchange of ideas, and help address any potential challenges or issues before they arise.

It is expected that the insights and feedback shared during the consultative meeting will contribute to the development of effective electoral strategies and guidelines, ultimately leading to credible and peaceful governorship elections in both Edo and Ondo States.

At the meeting and in conclusion, INEC chairman informed party leaders about the
existence of vacancies in National and State Assemblies caused by either death or resignation of Honourable Members in three States and one Federal constituencies across the country and echoed that as preparations are concluded, the Commission will announce the dates for bye-elections in Khana 2 State Constituency of Rivers State, the Bagwai/Shanono State constituency of Kano State, the Zaria Kewaye State
Constituency of Kaduna State and the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency of Jigawa State.

The APGA National Chairman was happy in the conduct of the session which witnessed large attendance of political leaders in Nigeria and prayed for advanced effort in building our nation – Nigeria.
